Wastin' Away again in Retro-ville....

Lots happening here in Retro-land lately....

Well, it appears that the blurred spot in the vision of my right eye really is more than a smudged contact! Mr. Hottie returned home Friday morning and took me to the opthamologist.

I first visited the Opthamologist, who after dialating & examining me and my histoplasmosis spots -- said there was no injury or infection - but immediately called & sent me over to the Retina specialist. (Who he has me see every 6 months...and I'd just seen 3 weeks ago).

Any old Hoo---The Retina doc also dialated, flouresced and numbed my eyes, and looked at them from every angle known to man, and compared with prior laser photos of my eyes to compare the Histo spots, checked pressure, etc for what seemed like forever...and said I have a Vitreous Detachment. Something that typically older folks over 50 get...but sometimes younger people, like myself who are high myopes (poor vision basically...) can get. This means the vitreous jelly in my eye has decided to detach a bit...there is some dusty matter in the space, causing the blurry/foggy spot in my vision and a floater that looks like a pesky bug flying around on my right side. (Annoying!) He said it was nothing I did, nothing that happened to cause this...it just happens sometimes in aging eyes. He didn't feel we had to do anything now (No drops, keep wearing contacts if they're comfy, etc) ..it should heal in a few weeks - I just have to come back in a couple weeks to let him check it. Worst case scenario, someone with this might develop a small hole in the retina...if that happened, they would address it from there...but usually it heals up on its own.

So, I've been having achy eyes, and headaches a bit - due to the eye strain of trying to see through this blur. It's like trying to see through a smudgy-fingerprinty-dirty window. Grrr! Despite this 'adversity' (lol) Did go to see the movie - The Women with a friend. It was hilarious!! I highly recommend it!!

Mr. Hottie had a good trip, got home okay. He was intrigued by India...had a good trip. He was very sad, seeing extreme poverty and people living in tents on the side of the road. (We should all have to visit a country like this at least once in our lives!)

We shopped this weekend and bought nursery furniture! We purchased the Baby crib, changing table/dresser, a nice glider/rocker chair with ottoman, and worked on our registry at Babies R Us, to get it started. We didn't put any clothing or sized items on the registry--because we won't know the baby's exact age or size until we get the referral. We did go ahead and buy the bedding set, too! Mr. Hottie coerced me away from this cute retro/mod set, to the Lil' Dino bedding set. (Found out later it's being discontinued, so we may not be able to get the mobile, or lamp...unless I get to the store again soon...it's over an hour away). Now that we bought the boy-bedding...I said to Mr. Hottie, watch---my luck, a miracle will happen, and it'll be a girl...lol. (We were told 99.9% it will be a boy....)

Weight watchers is going well....I am exercising every day just about (except today...I have another eye headache, and didn't sleep well last night). Total weight loss so far -- about 12 lbs I think for Mr. Hottie...and about 10 for me! I have about 10-11 to go for the adoption goal! (We're going to keep going though, till we reach a good healthy weight).

How was your weekend? What's going on with you lately?

Wow - i'm first! How exciting you got some baby items! I know you were just a-smiling!
Call me a wimp a wuss or whatever but I have NO desire to go anywhere such as India. My heart/stomach couldn't take it!

Good luck on your continuing excercise/weight loss!!!!

Brilliant on your weight loss, you are doing so well. I just started doing Herbalife last week and love it! I only replace one meal a day with a shake, the evening meal so I don't eat too much before bed, and I am loving it. I feel like I have more energy too and certainly don't have the cravings I had before.

I am so hoping you get your sweet baby soon, boy or girl. Just keep the receipts to return the boy stuff, just in case!

That bedding is adorable! I have to say how much I admire you both for making a priority to lose weight. I am afraid I would have so much bitterness towards the "powers that be" who were making me lose it that I would have a hard time sticking to the program. I need to make a commitment to myself to get healthier. My child deserves it. You are inspiring me!

My hubby has that vitreous retinal detachment, too. So far it hasn't caused him too much trouble.

Congrats on the weight loss. That's great. And also on getting your nursery set up. You'll have a baby in there before you know it and then the fun will start!!
